Associate Professor Robert Stirling is a Senior Respiratory Specialist and Lead Clinician at Alfred Lung Cancer Multidisciplinary Meeting at The Alfred Hospital, Prahran as well as treating medical specialist at Epworth Health, Richmond. 

Robert is currently a honorary lecturer and senior clinical educator at Monash University, Department of Medicine and is actively involved in clinical teaching with third and final year Monash University medical students, resident medical officers and respiratory registrars.

His sub-specialist interests are allergy immunology including asthma, rhinitis, urticaria, bronchiectasis, COPD, inflammatory lung disease and lung cancer.  His research interests include the improvement of quality of care in lung cancer, and chronic sinus and lung infection and the multidisciplinary meetings in lung cancer care. Robert is the co-coordinating principle investigator for the VLCR, and chair of the VLCR Steering Committee. He has recently completed and published an expert panel consensus guidelines for the International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measurement for Lung Cancer and has over 60 peer reviewed publications and conference abstract publications in the area of respiratory medicine.

Robert has numerous professional associations and such as the Australian Lung Foundation, Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand and the Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy. Active member of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer and sits on the Quality and Value Taskforce for Lung Cancer Care. He is currently leads VLCR engagement for the Victorian Lung Cancer Redesign Program with the Department of Health Human Services. He is also a member of the Southern Melbourne Integrated Lung Cancer Leadership Group, Australasian Lung Cancer Trials Groups and former member of the Victorian Cooperative Oncology Group with Cancer Council Victoria.
